Movie Review: Haywire - A Muted Action Movie
As I was leaving the moviehouse, one of the movie patrons said, "Whew, that was like a documentary!" Ooppss! Was that a compliment for an action movie? Anyhow, Haywire, directed by one of my favorite directors, Steven Soderbergh, is probably one of the most muted action movies I have ever seen! Yes, the action sequences are pretty interesting since Gina Carano, the lead actress is an MMA star, and she gets to show her chops here! However, they are all very muted - meaning - there is no music to go with them - so it kinda lessens the suspense and the drama of it all! Or maybe we're just so used to having that dramatic action music to go with the action sequences that when it's gone, it just feels lacking!
The movie has a very impressive cast which includes Antonio Banderas, Michael Douglas and eye candy Channing Tatum. He doesn't go shirtless here though, que dommage!
