Movie Review: 'Chronicle' Rocks

This movie kinda reminds me of Cloverfield because of the handheld style of camera work and documentary style of filming that it uses - which actually helps the film achieve its goal of entertaining the viewers who may not be fans of the sci-fi genre.  There is a lot of banter in the first hour of the movie, as the film tries to establish the relationships between the three male friends in the movie and its dynamics.  I guess it was important to do that so that the viewer would empathize with them in the end - especially in the last 30 minutes of the film - where all hell breaks loose!

And, whew, how it breaks loose!  It's probably some of the most fantastic sci-fi scenes you may have seen since the Inception!  It's done in its unique documentary, newsreel style and that sense of urgency in dealing with the escalating melee is aggravated minute by minute until that fateful decision by one of the three friends had to be done - just so Seattle can be saved from more damage.

Go and watch this movie!!  Just sit patiently through the first hour since it's really essential that the director do those scenes to establish your connection with each of the main characters.  It was fun too to see them use their powers for fun - at least in the first 30 minutes of the movie.
