It has been another interesting Golden Globes this year as The Artist and The Descendants both won Best Picture Comedy or Musical and Best Picture Drama. I'm not sure if The Artist can reach the Philippines except maybe through the French Film Festival, but since Sideways was shown here theatrically, years ago, there is a chance it will reach us, considering that George Clooney anyway is internationally well-known.
I think the awards show was even more interesting tonight as the stars have started to answer Ricky Gervais back! Madonna, Colin Firth, Antonio Banderas, Salma Hayek among others played into his jokes! I love the spontaniety of the show, which has been missing lately from the Oscars. I love the introduction of Felicity Huffman and husband William Macy where they sang in two different note arrangements - bravo! And the acceptance speeches like the one by Sofia Vergara and the Modern Family team gave the show a more international flavor! It was still no holds barred for Ricky so that helps a lot to loosen up everyone!
As for the winners, well, the favorites are starting to become clearer now but it would be best to await the awards given by the guilds since they are more qualified to say who really is the best in their respective categories. As for the Hollywood Foreign Press giving a swell party - well, they did it once again!
