Ligo Na U, Lapit Na Me: My #7 Favorite Film of 2011

It's a pity that Ligo Na Me, Lapit Na U had to go head on the same week No Other Woman came out, because the latter practically obliterated all the competition, but frankly, in terms of script I find the former more intelligent and more authentic, and really, No Other Woman is essentially a woman's film so even if the lines were bitchy like how a gay man would speak, Vilma Santos and Christopher de Leon have done far more superior adultery movies in the 80s which are far more authentic.  The younger audience should get hold of them and enjoy them!  Start with Relasyon!

Now back to Ligo Na Me.  This movie is 110 times much better than its American version, Friends With Benefits.  While the latter over-psychologed it, Ligo Na U just says it like how a dude would say it. Simple. Direct. Bereft of pretension.  And I love the female character here played by Mercedes Cabral.  I actually know some young women who are like her!

Anyway, if you get the chance to get the DVD, you better watch this one. It's one of the more intelligent yet authentic Pinoy movies I've seen in ages.  And it's funny too! And you can actually relate to it since surely, there's a couple like that in your own school!  Finally, it's about sex and having it without any strings - san ka pa!
