Black Swan Leads the Fabe-lous Movie Awards 2012 Nominees with 8 Noms
Black Swan dominated the nominees of the 1st Fabe-lous Movie Awards with 8 nominations, including Best Film, Best Director (Darren Aronofsky), Best Actress (Natalie Portman), Best Supporting Actor Drama (Vincent Cassel), Best Supporting Actress Drama (Barbara Hershey) and Best Original Screenplay.
127 Hours followed with 6 nominations including Best Director (Danny Boyle), Best Actor (James Franco) and Best Adapted Screenplay (Danny Boyle and Simon Beaufoy).
Four films had 5 nominations each, including the Filipino movie, No Other Woman; the Danish movie, In A Better World; the Swedish movie, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, and the American remake of The Three Musketeers.
No Other Woman was the most acclaimed local movie of the year with five nominations including Best Actress Drama nods for both Cristine Reyes and Anne Curtis, a Best Supporting Actress Drama nod for Carmi Martin, Best Original Screenplay, and a surprise Best Costume Design nomination.
Filipino movies had a bumper harvest of 16 nominations! Ligo Na U Lapit Na Me had four, while Ang Babae Sa Septic Tank, Ang Sayaw ng Daliwang Kaliwang Paa and Zombadings had two nominations each. My Neighbor's Wife squeaked in one nomination.
The winners will be announced on February 25, 2012.
