It's a fantastic year for Filipino movies, at least from my point of view, because frankly, usually, only on Pinoy movie gets into my Top 10 list every year, but this year, I really enjoyed three Pinoy independent films that they ended in my personal Top 10!
First on the list, at #8, is Ang Sayaw Ng Dalawang Kaliwang Paa. It's a very quiet film about a troika of two men and an older woman. I like that the movie merely insinuates things instead of insisting on it, thus leaving the viewer to make his or her own conclusions. Jean Garcia is ever reliable here, and this is probably the sexiest acting that Paulo Avelino has ever done - and he's not self-conscious about it, but for me, Rocco Nacino is the true revelation here. Tamang timpla lang ang ginawa niya in his ambiguous role of a guy who may actually like Paulo but decides not to explicitly express it. As I said, it's a very quiet film with poetry readings and native dance sequences so an ordinary viewer might fall asleep, hahaha! I couldn't fall asleep because Paulo is just incredibly cute here!
